| ORTHODONTICS
- CORRECTION OF BITE AND CROCKED TEETH |
| |
 |
Malocclusion
or the teeth hare crocked is not only a
question of aesthetic, but the teeth will
be unnecessary worn out and can cause tension
headache. It is more common that adults
are using braces.
|
| |
|
| Braces |
|
There are different types of braces
and they comes in different colours.
Length of treatment is normally 1.5
- 2 years. Regular “adjustment” appointments
are needed every 6 or every 12 weeks
depending of the construction of the
braces.

Headaches
are our number one pain problem. Approximately
40% of all „healthy” individuals suffer
from chronic headaches. Over the years
we have learned much about what causes
tension headaches and how to treat
them.
Today,
there is growing realisation that
a common cause of tension headaches
is a bad bite ( occlusion ). Other
dental causes of headaches, either
chronic or acute, are temporomandibular
joint (TMJ) dysfunction, missing teeth,
or unhealthy teeth and abnormal wisdom
teeth.

| Treatment
|

|
|
Depending
on the problems you are having it
can be possible to spot the signs
of an occlusal problem. Various muscles
may be sore when tested, or broken
or worn areas of your teeth will show
you are grinding your teeth – a common
sign of an incorrect bite.
If
your problems are due to an incorrect
bite, occlusal adjustment can be made.
If, in addition to incorrect bite,
the problems are due to stress or
trauma a soft or hard night guard
appliance can be worn at night. This
appliance fits over either the upper
or lower teeth which just has be worn
at night. This night guard will stop
your teeth and gives your muscles
a rest and hopefully relieve your
symptoms.
Replacement
of teeth. The TMJ needs equal support
from both sides of both jaws. The
chewing action is designed to work
properly only when your teeth are
present and in the correct position.
Missing teeth may need to be replaced
either with a partial denture or bridgework.
